With more than 15 years of communications experience as a professional writer and editor, I have worked with both large and small business and nonprofit organizations the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture, and The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, both of which I completed work as a technical writer. Other clients include the Consumer Federation of America, and the Armed Services Blood Program, for which I edited and wrote extensive website articles, and provided social media and website management.
My professional editing experience includes volunteering with political campaigns including the 2014 congressional campaign of current U.S. Representative Don Beyer where I edited volunteer telephone scripts and campaign flyers. Professionally, for Mack Sumner, a political direct mail company I proofread constituent newsletters, and political documents for the 2014 election campaigns of Florida House Rep. Dwight Dudley, Florida U.S. Senator Gwen Graham, and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, among others.
In the publishing field, I created www.bookbuzz4kids.com, a children's book blog that reviews cultural and educational children's picture books. As an aspiring children's writer, I feel it is important to give parents of diverse backgrounds a place to find books that reflect their children and diverse cultures.
My professional affiliations include membership with the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), Freelancers Union of New York City, and the Women's Business Center of Northern Virginia.
